Dr. Ryan Cuddihy joined Westfield Veterinary Group in 2026 after practicing for more than five years outside of Chicago. Originally from Monmouth County, Dr. Cuddihy developed a love for animals early in life, but it was a moment with his own dog that set him on the path to veterinary medicine. When his dog choked on a piece of boneless chicken, the helplessness he felt in that moment stayed with him. It sparked a deep desire to be able to provide care and reassurance to families when their pets need it most.
Dr. Cuddihy attended Rutgers University for his undergraduate studies, focusing on pre-veterinary education, before earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ross University in 2021. He has a particular interest in urgent care, with a focus on helping pets and their families navigate unexpected illnesses and medical emergencies.
After more than five years practicing outside of Chicago, Dr. Cuddihy was glad to return home to New Jersey, where he could be closer to family and enjoy the shore and the area’s many parks. He shares his home with his two rescued dogs, Saba and Dolly, and his rescued cat, Pearl.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Cuddihy enjoys sports, especially cheering on Rutgers, and spending time outdoors. He loves walking through local parks with his wife and daughter, who shares his passion for animals. Together, the family can often be found at the zoo, especially visiting their favorite animals: giraffes and lions.
